Redesigned Rooms at Village Farm

We have been incredibly busy over the last few months and have now completed the refurbishment of all 3 B&B rooms.

We have tried to give each room its own identity using Farrow and Ball paints and Laura Ashley fabrics maintaining a classic contemporary style that will enable our guests to relax and feel comfortable.

All our linens are Egyptian cotton from Dorma or The White Company as are our towels.

A new website is on it’s way which will include new photo’s of the rooms, but in the meantime here are some pictures.

David Hockney – A Bigger Picture

Have just been to the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy in London- it was truely amazing!  The way he captures the colour, light and seasonal changes at the same location is wonderful and has inspired me to actually stop, look and really see the wonderful scenary around East Yorkshire.

The amount of artwork that he produced last year is inspirational and shows what can be achieved when you are absorbed by what you have around you.  Seeing the way he has embraced new technology with his iPad sketches puts some of us youngsters to shame!

Village Farm is within easy reach of many of the sites Hockney has painted – Kilham, Sledmere, Garrowby Hill, Woldgate, etc.  Why not come and explore?

 

2012 Supper Club’s

We have 2 Supper Club dates planned for 2012 as follows:

Saturday 21st January – Asian Theme for Chinese New Year

Starters – Prawns with homemade chilli jam and Vegetable Spring Rolls

Main Course – Roast Port Belly with star anise plum sauce and Fish with sesame soy sauce, noodles and pack choi, served with Fragrant Spiced Rice

Dessert – Ginger Cheesecake

Saturday 25th February – Best of British

Starters – Black Pudding Salad with a Poached Free Range Egg or Potted Salmon with Melba Toast

Main Course – Toad in the Hole with Onion Gravy or Fish Pie with a Mustard Pastry Topping served with seasonal vegetables

Dessert – Sticky Toffee Apple Pudding & Mr Moo’s Ice Cream

Evenings start at 7.30pm and an additional cheese and port course is available if required.

We are fully licensed and stock a selection of Champagne, New World Wines and Spirits.

Our Supper Club Nights are proced at £22 per head (£10 non-refundable deposit required at time of booking) 

 

Christmas Supper Club

After the success of our first 2 Supper Club’s, our Christmas Supper Club is confirmed for Saturday 3rd December at 7.30pm.

We will be steering away from the traditional Christmas fayre and offering an Italian inspired celebration menu.

Starter: Anti-pasti with ciabatta and dipping oils

Mains: Leg of Lamb stuffed with olives, bread, pinenuts and herbs

or Open Ravioli with squash and porcini mushrooms

Served with roast potatoes, Caponata (Aubergine stew) and mixed greens

Dessert: Tiramisu or Limoncello Syllabub with crushed amaretti

Price: £22.00 per person Bookings Only  (£10 deposit required at time of booking)

An additional cheese and port course is available.

A selection of Italian wines will be on offer in addition to our usual New World selections.

Cyprus Holiday

Tony and I have just returned from a quick blast of sunshine and rest in Cyprus where we have an apartment.

Having been so busy over the last few months it was just what the doctor ordered!  Sitting by the pool and doing nothing – although typically after a few days I got itchy feet and needed to be doing something, I just don’t seem to be able to sit still for long.

Welcome to Yorkshire……

Hi Everyone,

Mum and I travelled to Leeds last week for the Welcome to Yorkshire Y11 Conference - It was great!  Welcome to Yorkshire do such a great job of promoting this wonderful county and have produced a fabulous promotional video that is being shown on TV ads and at promotional events.

I think the video embodies everything that is great about Yorkshire and reminds me how lucky I am to live here – why not take a look and see what you think.  Welcome to Yorkshire….

The First Post!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the brand new Village Farm Blog. 

I hope to use the blog to keep you all updated with what is happening here at Village Farm, our suppliers, recipes, events and special offers.  We can aso keep you up to date with the many things to do in the area.

We are currently enjoying a mini heatwave here on the East Yorkshire coast – it is truely wonderful – we all need some warm spring sunshine after the harsh winter.  I do hope this is just the start of scorching summer!

The Village Farm Tea Shop opened on Saturday 2nd April and is now fully open for business Wednesday – Sunday 2pm-5pm.  The opening was great fun and there was a mix of friends and villagers here enjoying our home made cakes in the sunshine.
